WELCOME NEW USERS!

Hello Guys, Gals & sPECtre. Just drifted into port and need a berth. :D
Look forward to doing business with you all.

Cheers all, Rantin Al. (Don't let the name fool you, I'm a figment of my own imagination) 8}

That reminds me that...

I realized that I had never made the presentations in there ?[saywhat]

[innocent] ?now, I understand why... I don't know how to start ? :bustagut:

As you may know, looking a the info on the left side, I'm from Belgium...
That small country between France, the Netherlands, Germany, and an even smaller country : Luxembourg... across the pond is the UK, so you know more or less where it is... no, it was not a dirt on your map, it's a country...

Was born in '75 in Malmedy, in the area of the "Hautes Fagnes" a beautiful natural reserve.

Went at school in the "regular" school (ie not artistic section) but I always drawed in the margins (to the despair of my teachers)
then I had to choose a orientation, tried translation, as I'm good to learn other languages but I can't stand vocabulary lists... and the first year at univerity involved too much fun... so the year after, I decided to take infographics... went in a "beaux-arts" school, but they were still using Amigas (in 1995) I discovered Photoshop in the only Mac of the Class...
I didn't finished the year at school,(I felt it was not "the" school)

The year after, I found the good one, they were giving classical courses (photo, silkscreening, drawing...) , as well as teaching infographics... bought my first PC, and became immediately addicted to Photoshop! (the year after, I was more an assistant to the PS teacher than a regular student ?)

I finished the studies in a row (what a change!), then got my actual job, who's title is "Illustrator" and I can use my loved app at work ?I am still trying to get a side job in which I can be more creative (my main one is for a big institution, so very rigid) but it will involve me being organized.... ?

I cannot describe myself as a Photographer, but I like to shoot pictures, sometimes...

I live in a house with my GF, my dog (german shepherd), and my cat (who loves to walk on the keyboard) not too far of the french border.

Ah, also, my biggest fault: procrastinator! ?
also, I'm infoholic: I like to read, I need to read, everything about any subject...

Sports: running (10-15 Km), and helping a friend to build his house, trust me, it's a whole sport by itself!

Tastes: Electronic music mainly, expecially noise /ambient / underground / industrial

Movies: Dark scifi : Blade Runner, Brazil, Delicatessen, most Tim Burton, Ridley Scott, David Lynch... ?

Books: Dune, Hyperion (Had the mandatory Stephen King period, but still read his books from time to time) + William Gibson

Other details :

No driver license, but dad sells cars (no, you don't need to replace the "but" by "because", unless it is unconscious , OTOH, you can relate this to the Procrastinator info... and to the fact that they made too many "drink or drive" ads... I choosed: Belgium doen't produce petrol, but beer ?:righton: !)

Old hobbies : Remote Controlled Cars, then Amiga and ...Deluxe Paint!...

Likes : everything that's creative... I can wath fashion shows (hey, NOT only Victoria's secrets!) for instance, my preferred haute couture designers are Thierry Mugler and Jean-Paul Gaultier... I like also design, typography

When I walk in the cities, I love to look up at the buildings (we live close to marvellous things, but don't notice them most of the time)

cool nice to get some background Piere....... neat idea perhaps we should all do it......... I'll be back with my background check :bustagut: :bustagut: :bustagut: ....... on the fly for now

:righton: You got that one right Sam! I look forward to seeing more of you around here and as a 'new user' don't be shy to ak ANY question. ;)

Also, remember to use the 'search option'... your questions may already have been answered here in the past and, if there's nobody on the board to help you at the time, this could be the quickest route to go. ;)

Welcome to the forums...lots of info here.

Hi Pierre,

I very much enjoyed reading about your life. You're a good story teller. Maybe because I'm originally from Europe has something to do with it, how you describe the way you moved in life, it touched my heart. To me that's refreshing.

You mention your likes in music. I discovered the type of music you talk about. Think this past December from a radio station here in California. Didn't think I could be this intensely passionate about music. I'm talking about PsyTrance, House, Industrial, Tribal several other genres close to that. I don't even know a lot of the lingo around all that. Fascinating to me is the fact that this is really a huge cultural and global thing. A lot coming from Sweden originally, stayed in basements and "in the dark" for a long time. Israel's got some awesome stuff going (Infected Mushroom!!) Something about it, and the scene, it's so very subversive. I'm thrilled about that, too. San Francisco here, there's a lot happening with this music. I'm more or less merely watching listening to music streams they're beaming from the city. Only been to a club once, had a blast.

Lastly, you into Bladerunner and all? Coincidentally(?) today I came across a forum site while I rummaged through icq (this convoluted mess). That forum site uses icq messaging/signaling units and there's a link. The forum site has this awesome interface I think. All this tiny buttons and connectors, surfaces that look like they're real.

That's why I came here tonight thinking I can probably learn something here how this is done. So, I hope I'm marking it right, this one is the old site I think. http://www.bladezone.com Looks it. Like some old piece of carpet that's never been cleaned. This is the Off World Forums http://www.bladezone.com/phpBB2/ clearly showing change is a good thing.

A couple of things I can see could be improved upon. Like making text and symbols float above the surfaces. Ideally that could look like a dynamically generated interface adjusting to the user, ie, light and luminous areas and how they interact. There's a lot to read, you might like it. Who is Bladerunner anyway?
I dind't read one word.. [doh]

Hey, anyone reading this and knows how this design is done, I would luv to speak with you. :} bye now. Stefan.
