WELCOME NEW USERS!

8D WOW!! What a great forum!! I am exited to learn some more skills that will help me quit my job. I am going to try and make my own logo for my photography business. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great.

Welcome batch and enjoy your stay! ;)

Hi Itry welcome to the forum and enjoy your stay.
If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great.

Give us more info: what program you would like to use Photoshop or Illustrator? Logos should be sample and clean designs either you would like to have graphic or fonts for logo. Color scheme is very important as well.

Here is a link with a lot of good advices and examples of graphic design and I hope that will get you started:

I like your site! :righton:

BTW : You live in great city, Austin best music in the world. ;)

Hope this helps.

Hey, hello everyone! 8))
I must say that I don't have photoshop, but I may be looking for someone who does.
So I guess I've come to the right place! :)

I'm not new to message boards, I'm an admin on two others right now. ;)

By the way, is it okay for me to have these gifs in my signature?

Welcome to the forums cajabe. Photoshoppers we've got! ;)

Sure it's OK to have signature GIFs but I've got to admit that I've chosen to have them turned off. It's an option in Profile > Modify Profile > Look and Layout Preferences.

Welcome! It would be nice if they were less flashy, it gets difficult to read posts with them.

If you are a student, look at the academic pricing for Photoshop
Or Photoshop Elements 4 is just out, with features that Photoshop does not even have (the new selection tool, for instance)

Hey From Northern BC Canada. Im also new to the board but not new to Photoshop, So many things to learn, and just looking to broaden my skills (what skills I have ;\ ) I have been reading some of the topic on this forum, and you guys do some great work here, and are very informative in all of your posts.
Keep up the work.
Cheers.

Welcome to those i too have missed lately!
And to cajabe and Apollosky as well.

Hope you all enjoy your stay.

Feel free to join the group projects and don't ever be afraid to ask questions here. It's who we are and what we're about. ;)

Hi all. I'm brand new to this forum and a raw beginner to Photoshop (I have 7.0). I might as well let you know I'm older than most of you (nearly 60), and have no college training in any of this. Knowing that, I doubt I'll ever be able to use photoshop to it's full potential, but I'm still enjoying it anyway and don't regret buying it. Anyhow, just wanted to say hello, and I'll be doing a lot more reading (threads) than posting for awhile, but thanks for having this forum available [excited]

Best to all.....

OOPS!! This is really embarrassing, but I'm in the wrong forum :{ I just realized this is for "Photoshop," but I have Paint Shop Pro. My apologies to all. Still, this seems like an excellent forum for Photoshop users. If I ever do get it, I'll be back. :righton:

Best to all....mystified

Lol, Doodad. It might amuse you to know the rest. You see, being new to all of this, I thought PSP and Photoshop were the same. So, I joined two Ps forums and started reading. The thing is, I wanted PSP to create original art (paintings, etc.), but not so much for photo editing since I do little with photos. All this time, in reading posts at the two Ps forums, I couldn't figure out why so many were about photos. I kept wondering when I'd start seeing something about painting and drawing. It was a reply to a post in a thread I was reading that got me to check on mine. That's when I realized I was in the wrong place ;\ Anyway, as I said, best to all :D

Hi Mystified. :)
Well it's true that you see a lot of people using Photoshop for image editing, but it's mainly because few actually prefer to paint. Those who do use Photoshop for freehand drawing or painting can do amazing stuff, like this piece done by Linda Bergkvist:

There is tons of great hand painted Photoshop art at Cgtalk, check out the 2D gallery:

The first lesson every new artist should learn; no tool can make you creative, creativity comes the artist him/herself.

Have fun with Paintshop Pro, good program? ;)
