New Tutorial is up...

Thanks!

Thanks for the kudos. and Thanks to Mark for the tut I had fun playing with that one. I added the "plasma ball" on the thought from someone else in the forum who was looking to create one. Didn't come out as great as I wanted it to but Im still playing with it, trying to getr some arcs of light brighter than others.

Mark I don't have ps open right now - not yet anyway.....

I did all three on the one file - started with the first okay then hid those layers and began on the second - I realised when I was putting the verticle rings in and resizing them that not only could I see the rings but the gradient also - I will redo the second one and see if it happens again and then I will post my layers and the screen shots if it happens okay but I was following the tute still at that stage

Mark you will have to email me as I have the psd file (which is too large for here) - same things happened........ the gradient I forgot to hide you said to hide them (I missed that bit) but I still have trouble with the new layer from the channel - create new layer and fill with black........ I had to inverse, then I had to not select the base sphere but the gradient layer which is now hidden and stroke that layer.
I have 2 PSD files - 1 of an the screen shots that I was going to post here but it was too large and the other of the tute I can send them both if you email me :D

tried to send the psd file to you Mark but perhaps you have changed your address - I will wait until I hear from you now

G'day all ... haven't been here since March .. nice to see this is still a friendly, informative site ... am glad I could find the old bookmark in the "old" computer .... at last, due to this thread, I can make the sphere thingo actually make things that really look like spheres!!! ... my second attempt is below (my first attempt? ... well, if you squinted real hard and used alot of imagination it did sort of look round:\ )

[stuned] ..... scratching head, looking for pic [innocent] .....

okay, the cats will have to wait for their tea while I figure this

aha!! it worked!! ... this is my 2nd image ... now, after feeding the cats, I'm off to find another sphere tutorial (they're not so scary afterall[excited]) ...

:) thank you sfm ... not used to forums etc ... but this one I like to look around and learn from (image stuff is only a hobby for me but it keeps the brain learning)

Hi Namvet and welcome back! Nice job on that sphere :righton:, especially the second one. Practice makes perfect, as they say! ;)

:) thanks Gaussian and wbiss ... I have a long way to go before I get anything close to perfect that's why I have found this site so helpful 'cos I can look for hours and get ideas, hints and even explanations to questions I didn't even know existed ... and all without typing a word :D .. and now I feel more comfortable having a go at the tutorials

Okay Namvet, you've inspired me to give this tute another go...
Many, many versions later :) and here I go again.
