What year did you get your first computer?

Mystic be another young one I suspect. Welcome there Mystic

IBM Personal PC...1981(circa) 10MB Hard Drive and 1 floppy drive. DBase III software, DOS OS - cost $5k with software. Then we got a 20MD Hd, I had no idea why we would EVER need all that storage..but is was state of the art back in the day. All of it was pretty amazing back then. (Could have bought Microsoft for a few dollars a share, but was too stupid..alas..still stupid and just as broke..LOL)

OK, I've been avoiding this thread. It's a trick question right? I graduated from a Brother word processor to some PC desktop in 92 or 93. It was a "reject" from a friend of mine, but it was my first and I loved it. Didn't really know what to do with it then; way pre-Photoshop for me; that was in 2000 I think. Joined aol, my first ISP (I think it was then but maybe not), and a forum for groupies of a Canadian vampire TV series. I still have the vhs cassettes in storage.

I got the idea for this thread cause of my major in college. Major being Information Technology, which I am starting to regret. I thought I was smart with computers, but so far it feels as if I am starting all over again. Seems like most everyone had a Windows based comp as their first comp. Some have now upgraded to a Mac. Sure Macs are good for Photoshop, After Effects, and other stuff like that, but a Windows comp can do the same for about half the price.

I think my dad has bought computer for me when I was in 9th Standard in High School. It was great to have fun and have learn a lot of things into it. So Now I am Software And SEO Analyst.

My first computer was a Amstrad 6128. I bought it in spring 1986. Look at the details in the screenshot. What impressed me at the time was, that it had a paintprogramm with a mouse. I had 16 colors to choose. That's how I painted my first picture of my cat. I had my picture on the computerscreen and I could save it to a disc.

Next step was to make a colorprint of my work. I set up my Nikon F2 (still analog with color negative fillmroll) on a tripod in front of the Computer and took a "Screenshot" of my image. Then I had the film roll developed and had photos printed from it.

Two of my very first creations I want to show you here. I found the photos in an old box marked 1986. Of course I had to rephotograph them again for the forum.

My 1st was a Sinclair ZX Spectrum in the early 80's. I remember thinking about some of the latter end games of that genre, "Wow, the graphics are just so realistic." we we're soo easily pleased back then.

My 1st PC in 1997 had 4gb of hard drive, & 32mb of Ram, and that was a lot in those days. :)
