what can i do to this image?

thanks agentmoeller, i am in the process of getting it done just need to find the correct texture set.
in the meantime:

this one needs something :/ the black is for the desktop icons btw so if at all possible i would like to leave that as it is. soon enough i will stand on my own 2 feet all i really need is a few ignitions and a kick start as it were

Is the scratching an overlaid texture, or a filter effect? You could overlay a texture layer, and then brush away some of it with a layer mask where the black is so your icons are easy to see. But your texture would uniformly cover the whole image.

That might be cool.
