Update on the 2 Color Changes in CMYK (Rantin Al!)

eps is the past, pdf is the future. we are now in a transition period. many printers that are in business for say some ten or more years depend heavily on eps as it is what they are accustomed to. Don't forget that twenty years ago a printer's life was more 19th than 20th century!. Theirs was a trade that was completely practical, and then suddenly they had to start studying something as good as science fiction in their eyes.
It was a rough time for them, that I can well imagine!

Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry interesting reading here!

I've had "some" (but not a ton of experience) with commercial printers and I have NEVER run into the problems that jennifern has. Yes, perhaps I was dealing with better than "basement operators"... [confused]

jennifern, I really feel for you :{ ... talk about learning the 'hard way'! }:\ But then, on the bright side, these are lessons that serve one well down the line.

I agree with stickdiesel's advice... foremost is to build a rapport (relationship) with a dependable and reliable printer.

Walk in with the file formats that they have requested (and then those that they haven't... just in case), and don't forget to present them with your own "printed proof" so that both you and the printer have a common guideline. ;)

YA i think relationship building is what seperates very proffesional from poor business.

Not just for printing either but your clients as well. I read an interesting article the other day in Computer Arts Mag (from memory) that summed it up by saying if you want to be competative as a designer in 2003 + you have to act like a business person and hold a high degree of proffesionalism. Seeing that every man and his dog can get into the industry over night and charge squat for their work, those that spend time building relationships with clients etc will get clients to spend more $$$ on you.
