This is my first proper attempt at animating graphics in Ps. I'm happy with the concept but I think I need to work a little harder on the timing of some of the transitions, to me the flow looks a bit too robotic. Any help/advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I personally like it as it is, the only way you'll get it to look perfectumundo in photoshop, from previous experience is to use something like after effects and port the after effects move in as a gif.

Thanks for the input Sam & Zeealex!

I don't have much experience with Ae, but its something I really want to learn, but I don't have the time to dive into it properly so I guess at the moment I'll have to keep polishing it in Ps. I'm gonna mess about with the transition times to see if I can get it looking a bit more dynamic.

Cheers

Looks good, Cleareyes.

What I can suggest is to begin the ani with a reduced text size and increasing them in increments (maybe in 5 frames) to its current size before it moves to its final position. Gives the illusion the letters are moving forward rather than just move left , pause and continue to the right. Maybe increase the shadow a bit more.

Start by deleting frames 46 to 48 (text pause). Maybe start increasing the text size at frame 43 with the shadow starting to appear by frame 45. A pause in movement at (the new) frame 46 but text larger with shadow slightly darker. Continue movement and increasing the text size in frame 47 and 48 with shadow getting darker and by frame 49 the final size with a darker shadow than the original. Adjust the shadow darkness for the succeeding text frames.

Extra effort that requires precise and uniform text resizing but this will result in a smoother flow at this stage of the animation.

This :arrowu: is just the advice I needed! I wanted to give the impression that the text was moving around the dark red piece by adding the shadow, but i didn't think to increase the text size to make it more apparent -Doh!

Thanks so much for this.

Hope it achieves what you want to see in your animation. You might favor having the text size change earlier than frame 43 and concluding later than 49.

I'd love to see what the re-worked gif will look like. Repost it here if you can.....

1st I edit the image at Photoshop
Layer by layer and save it to jpeg.

and i used Easy Gift Animator to make it. dude

If your system can handle it, select ANIMATION in MENU>WINDOW.

Create your animation layer by layer and sequence the animation frame by frame. OR move objects in a layer by fractions in individual frames.

I like the Op's gif file very pro looking despite the little bit of flicking, wish i had the patience to be that neet:mrgreen:

doesnt photoshop cs5 or cs6 now come with tween in the animation to make smooth animations ?? I have to be honest I dont make many gifs these days so cant remember I usually make a video then export them to photoshop to make the gif

can you do Screen Shot and attache the image? :)

Yes they do. Maybe the OP can look into that to see if it improves the ani....

Yeah, I did use tween for the some parts, but for the majority of the ani I moved everything manually 5px per frame, I found that using tween sometimes gave the wrong effect - it would fade from start to end rather than physically move.

Perhaps I was just doing it wrong  !
