Seamless Pattern problem

Hello, I am trying to create a Pattern using PS CS5. I have found some information online about creating seamless Textures, but it is quite different than with a Pattern.

I need to create a pattern of wood clapboard siding to use on a picture of a house. I have a sample I have tried to use, but it looks like patchwork once I scale it down to the correct pattern size for the house.

needs a bit of touching up, do you have the original?

@puppychew what steps did you take there? it could be an error of the tute you followed.
 
I have an original but need to learn how to do it myself. All the tutorials are more for textures not straight horizontal siding.

puppychew, i cant remember but there was another member with similar problem and the solution was to use some kind of offset option. maybe hoogle can shine some light on this. I will learn too.
 
Filter>offset:

options...
Horizontal: half the size of the image
vertical:half the size of the image.
method:wrap around.

then use the clone brush the seams in the centre being careful not to distort the texture.

I've been using the offset filter for AGES in game retexturing, so i'm pretty familiar with how it works and what to do. some tutes are a bit vague though, and sometimes they only work with certain textures.

that particular problem was solved by getting one of the lines, putting it perfectly vertical and then turning it into a pattern, the offset filter did not work on that particular pattern because of how it was tilted.
