Problem viewing graphics in IE

Actually I haven't Steve lol. I think it's one of two things:
1. There is a bug with IE8 and CSS or one of it's selector's properties (because as soon as I remove the link to CSS in my html file, it works and I can see the jpg).
2. a recent patch installed via Window Update (doesn't make sense bc then all jpgs would not work, not only ones before 11/16).

I've used several color options in Photoshop to see if I could get around it and nada. At first I thought i was onto somehting when I was "saving as" in Optimize for Web choosing html and images, but that is just html w/o CSS. as soon as I link to my CSS code with the generated Photoshop HTML, the file no longer shows. I have it in an <img> tag. my code validates too. strange

i'm going to try on another machine with IE7 or even IE9 to see if it happens....
i'm stumped.

This is happening only on "Your" computers right?
I'll assume Windows.

You can try disabling some startup programs and see if that helps.
Disable half first, then the other half and see if a startup program is the bad guy.

There's a program I use for this at Mike Lin's Home Page.

I've used it for years with no problem but use it at your own risk.
I'm not endorsing this program just telling you my experience.

Yes tried IE w/o addons already, no good. Yes only my pc's. about to send this to one of my partners who believes he has IE7. Just so you know, my pc's have two different builds. one is XP Home Edition, another is a build from the company I work for.

I will try your suggestion and let you know.

Ok so basically it's only happening on your webpage then.. Like i said before, when you was posting images you made after 11/16 we could still see them, you on the other hand could not, that tells me it's not a problem with the image itself but rather something local on your machine only.. Or it could be in the code. it may help if you post a link to the page you are working on and see if we can view it in IE. Like i said we can see the image fine on all the browsers...

It's not a problem with Windows itself or another program causing IE to error when reading the script for the image. Killing Startup programs is going to be a waste of time imho.

Steve buddy, we all know we can use all the help we can get so just keep on helping. so far you have helped me help him. your post are always helpful and greatly appreciated!

I just wish our new member would be a bit more specific (just a wee bit) so we can narrow down the problem. I'm still thinking a link to this page would help a lot..

I'm still here Kev I'm still here, but if the problem has anything to do with CSS code or generated Photoshop HTML I'm lost.

This is what you do not me, but I'm watchin'.

Thanks Dezigns. This has been resolved and the reason, completely weird and senseless. My xhtml file was corrupt. maybe now we can all understand why I was looking at different places and hence me not being specific enough lol. i made a copy of my xhtml file last night to show one of my buddies. today, i decided to open it up because (due to lack of sleep) i thought this was a file I created a few weeks ago when it was the copy i made last night. and guess what it works, no explanation. code is exactly the same. this explains why the problem replicated on my other machine, because i had copied the same file to it.

i normally would have made the simple troubleshooting steps of making a copy of a file in the first place, but because my jpeg from 11/16 was working fine, it definitely threw me off, thinking it was IE8 or Photoshop.

but thank you for your followup last night. the both of you.

i'm tired and am going to nap now so i can enjoy my Saturday evening. Be good guys and if you watch football, go Giants!!
