Problem viewing graphics in IE

I would think this is a common issue, but I find it "baffling" that I cannot find this anywhere, so here goes...

I'm using Photoshop CS2 and CS4, and any jpg or gif I create cannot be viewed in IE, but can be seen in any other browser. Happens on two machines.

At one point I did change some color settings, which I believe may have something to do with it. Files that were created awhile back are still fine, regardless of size.

I googled "issues viewing jpg's on IE" and followed all the suggestions in IE, but nothing.

using IE 8.0.

any help is appreciated.

the files I produced in Photoshop a few months back are fine. Now, however, none can be displayed in IE. I'm thinking something with color profile either in Photoshop or the files themselves. If anyone has an idea, pls let me know. I want to avoid uninstalling/reinstalling, esp if it doesn't work :)

No problem on the laptop either.

bowersdv can you see this.
It appears the color profile was Adobe RGB, I removed color management for this image.

still cannot see it. what steps did you exactly do to remove color management? i'm still new to Photoshop and see that there are many menu items that mention or link to color.

i did a fresh Adobe CS2 install on my desktop (which never had Adobe installed before), and still am unable to see it.

Beginning to think that maybe a patch in windows xp is preventing this?? I was able to see my files a few months back.

I can't be sure of the assigned profile because I open JPG's and TIFF's in ACR (Adobe Camera RAW).
When opening the ACR the workflow options require you set a color space.
I set it to Adobe RGB.

When I opened any image in PS I get a warning if there's a color space mismatch.
I didn't get a warning and the more I think about it you're original image probably had no profile.

Any way to answer your question go to Edit|Assign Profile to assign or remove a profile for an image.

i'm suspecting Active X for some reason. why do you say that Dezigns Unlimited? especially if I CAN open a jpg i created in photoshop on 11/16/10. it's any file I create NOW that I cannot see in IE. any file I created before 11/16 I can see. so logically, this leads me to believe that it could be a patch for IE that I may have installed using windows update on both machines.
Also, on one machine, I cleaned out my temp int files/cache and reset IE security to default settings.
ON the other machine, I didn't do anything to IE. Same results.
On both machines, I cannot open jpeg's that I create now, but can open any before 11/16, which was last time I used Photoshop until yesterda

try opening this attachement from 11/16 and see if yuo can see it. i can, from both machines.

my profile was Adobe RGB. i'm trying to fool around with the settings to see if it makes a difference. So far choosing any of the three do not work. very strange.

i'm getting closer now. found a workaround which is leading me to the cause of the problem. it's a CSS related issue. when i "save for web" using html and images, it works. i even used the images that were not showing in the newly generated code and all of a sudden they were showing. the moment i remove my statement to use externall css style sheet, it works, using my old code. at least i'm getting somewhere now and the problem seems to be stemming from my code. thanks for the help Steve.

It would have been nice to know that it was an issue with a website project and not just some error you get when trying to view the photo online. Please be more specific when asking for help.

well considering the fact that it seemed like a Photoshop issue at first, that's what I thought. as I continued to look at this, I could open the files in Internet Explorer either without css being linked in or through File/Open in Internet Explorer. Reason why I thought it was Photoshop was because when I Googled the issue, all the forums mentioned checking color profiles AND because I had made changes to the color profile in Photoshop. still having the issue. i should be able to place it in a <img> tag and it open fine. it opens fine in Firefox, Chrome and Safari. And once again, I can open a JPEGs that I created in 11/16 or before. that is why I thought it was Photoshop. it's not even an entire site, just a page of html code with a small css file.

that's why I wasn't specific..so if you can suggest something, great or if you have come across this before and think you know what could be the issue, awesome.
your last comment would have been warranted had you actually SUGGESTED something before, instead of just making comments.

thanks again.
