Problem: EPS/PDF? Converting to Vectors...

Easy does it....

As always the simplest of ways.. is the way to go...

I should have thought of that!

Thanxz!!

Hey there Guys...

It seems I just can't get it Right...

I have a new problem... I made an PDF file of the image I wanted printed in the paper. But at this particular paper the I-mac doesn't eat my PDF...

So what's the problem? I did exactly as you guys said about PDF and stuff..

(I still gotta get Illustrator here.. I can't find the disc I put it on... )

NEED MORE INFO...

Did you try the PDFon your machine?
what is the error message?
what version of Acrobat are they using? and you?
did you e-mail them the file or bring it by CD?

I did both.. the file worked on my machine...

I used Photoshop.. and so did they..
but they used an I-mac.. and I used a PC to create it.. no other difference...

But I worked it out with some lady.. on the phone..

She INSISTED that I'd make an EPS.. cos they had problems with PDF..

So I made an EPS.. zipped it (GEEZZ does that Make a Difference!!! :D I didn't know that an EPS of 7 MB's can go down to 150 KB by just ZIPPIN it... useful to know!!!! :D) and I mailed it...

But I first brought them a cd with EVERY FORMAT on it.. so I don't know why that didn't work...

anyway I learned about I-mac and PC differences and saving options for EPS and PDF.. so I got it right in the end!!!

Thanxz for all the help nevertheless..

could you tell us what was the option that you had eto change to make it compatible? the encoding?

Well main thing was that she insisted on having an EPS...

So I fixed her a normal EPS file....
Let's see what else I did..

First of all I followed your advise on putting the text in anew..
after that I made all the things I had shapes...

but this didn't make it compatible..

I had saved it as a Binary.. cos that s'posed to be compatible with mac..
the result is a Huge file.. but this is no problem..
as long as you make sure the file's pix/inch aren't of an impossible amount..

I set it to 172 which was more than enough for what I wanted.. (depends on what you want..)

still the file was atleast 7 MB's (first it was 21 because I had more pix/inch and a bigger image)

I was able to include Vector Data thanxz to sPECtre's wisdom sharing!
and I made sure it was set to TIFF 8 bits/pixel..

so in short:

TIFF 8 bits/pixel
Binary
Include Vector Data (if you can)
(if using a Image created on PC on a Mac make sure to save it as CMYK on the PC)

If this all results in a HUGE file.. Just ZIP it...

this easily shrinks it down more than 400 %
I made 7 mb's change in 150 kb...

this way I could fit it on a normal disk instead of a CD..

well that's all I did...

one thing I learned was that when saving in EPS binary it makes A LOT of difference what size (HxW) and pix/inch your image is.. if you want it not to be to big!!

most important for Compatibility on both Mac and PC is to save it as EPS Binary in 8 bits/pixel!!!!

Well.. I said everything twice now so it should be clear...

nothing to it really!!

seeya!!

AraVitz

ps: all of this only applies to EPS.. I don't really know about PDF yet..
the Lady of the printing company told me that if they get stuff in PDF it always gives error's and problems.. while EPS (IF saved correctly) always works!.. (sorry Maestro Mark!!! [shhh] )
