Planet with terrain

gradients

Hey ,that looks great. was looking through my gradients and didnt see from black to white that didnt hace lines in it. Am new to gradients and know there is a way to create the one I want . any help here? Thanks.[excited]

You can create one of your own Pakmn

Double click on the pattern in the toolbar and the Gradient Editor will pop up.
From here on you create your own gradient. It would cost me too much time to explain how, but it's explained in the help files. You might search on the internet using Google using following search argument: "gradient editor" Photoshop

[shhh] Rick... don't ever use that word around me again! :bustagut:

Looking good, Stu :righton:

Thanks :D

I have a really easy way seeing as most of the time half to three quarters of the planet s going be in shadow.Just make circle selection then take a soft low opacity brush in a blue etc and paint along the selection edge and feather it back bit further as you paint, then grab a smaller and make darker strokes inside your others and blur the whole deal and voila a base to start from as you dont need to paint the right side at all.For the blue atmosphere just convert the selection to a path stroke it with an airbrush and reduce the opacity to suit. :)

Great effort azheat4u! :righton: To make your planet more realistic, try adding a "spherize" effect and some shading... ;)

:) You're welcome azheat4u... and thanks for the BD wishes too! ;)

:D looking a lot better azheat4u! Good work! :righton:

Wow! This thread is just what I need. Nice heavenly bodies. I was wondering if anyone had any quick suggestions on how to create those lightning effects around stars with the halo and points that I see posted above...or like so..

Plus any suggestions on how to create good starfields. It's pretty much my understanding that noise filters are best for that. Thanks!

I made a planet out of terragen and photoshop on accident once. Ill have to find it. But, for now, hu um , hmm, what? huh? [stuned] O, i fell asleep on my keyboard :bustagut: For now, i.. guess... im sorta tired [sleepy] I'll look for it tommorow. o, huh? Use a large size star brush to make the stars, add a layer with a circle, fill it with white, gaussian blur, add another layer for the a stroked circle, blur & transparency and add a another layer...etc...etc..

Oh man... G-Man! I was originally looking at this query in terms of using the "lighting/lens flare" effect... [confused] But, you're right... ;)
Simple really ... :)
It's important to remember that not all "effects" are, seemingly, straight-forward....and many do entail a combination of effects/filters and efforts... :righton:
