Photoshop Stuck on a Save

Hi,
I started to save a photoshop psd file and photoshop is stuck on saving that file. It's at 99% and sitting there and has been like that for over half an hour. Is there any way to get that file saved or delete it or something because photoshop won't save anything else until that one is dealt with. I don't want to have to close the program down unless absolutely necessary because I'm still working in there and have other files open that I don't want to lost.
Thanks for any suggestions,
Marg

Hi @maggie2
First, an observation. Several of your last posts indicate possible computer problems, which may be resource issues such as low memory or hard disk space, etc. It could also mean there is an intermittent failure lurking. Hardware tests can be run on Mac and PC systems to put it through its paces and try to ferret out problems, which you may want to consider as a future thing to do.

For your immediate problem, here are some things (you may have tried some already)
- Press the escape key. Some programs will jump out of the black hole with that
- Close all other applications that don't need to be open to support Photoshop. This might clear up system resources if that is the bottleneck
- You Open Task Manager on the PC (I assume you are still on a PC), which can tell you what is running and eating up all the resources. That can explain whether Photoshop or another program is causing the issue.
- The Disk Management software might also give you the status of your disks.

It is also possible that the software is locked up, and you cannot get out and will have to end Photoshop and try the recovery techniques mentioned by @Rich54

Either way, you should seriously consider taking the computer to a PC Doctor, as you have been getting yellow flags for a while about system problems.
Just some quick suggestions

Actually, I didn't do anything. I just went away from the computer and when I went back a couple of hours later it was fixed so I can't take any credit for it. I'd love to know how it got fixed also but I have no idea I'm just glad it somehow got back to acting normally.
