Need help! Changing to 2 colors in CMYK

:} :} :} R.A. you are the best!!!

What a learning trip, eh jennifern? Your 'saga' boggled my mind 'cause first you had to satisfy a printer who only understood PS and now you have to satisfy a printer who only uses Illustrator! [saywhat] Basement businesses??? [confused] I've NEVER experienced what you have! But at least I'm prepared now...

Yep! As Gaussian said,
"R.A. for President"
:righton: :righton: :righton: Well done...clearly and concisely documented R.A.!!! :} :}

I'm just grateful there is a forum that helps out...goes above and beyond!

This is the second printer we are using, and I also think a lot of our problems with it has been that the printer doesn't want to have to check into it (i.e. laziness).

I appreciate the help! :D

Fascinating thread indeed! A problem I've never known, and a solution I never dreamt of!
I hope that more people will follow Jennifer's example and post their impossible problems. What a creative goldmine indeed!

Printers still come with ink ribbons??? Well, there ya go, thats something I thought went out in like the 80's LOL

Great thread....in fact I think we should have a forum that caters soley for printer issues and or stories :D

Noooooo! Stickdieel!/b] Gimme the simple problems.... Please!

I want to lead a humble, quiet life. I could take over the whole site with scary stories about printers!

By the way, I just made this up, I haven't a clue what I'm talking about.

ya, they can be ur best friend and nemises at the same time lol.

I tried a new printer the other week, put the order in and said i can give them 2 days to do. They said sure, come back at 8 am friday ( i put in on wednesday). When i returned they knew nothing about it.

Thing is they kept making excuses and didnt offer resolve so I took my zip to worldwide online and they printed straight away.

I have zero tolerance with bad service and bad printers...I should have known by their name....ACME publishing lol. They were just down road so tried anyways.

R.A.: By the way, I just made this up, I haven't a clue what I'm talking about.
[doh] [saywhat] Just when I told my printer about the "Integrated Wobble Sprocket Differential"... left him scratching his head and waltzed merrily off!

:(| I'm ruined in the trade!!!

OOPS! Sorry Wendy, that should have been the 'Integrated Wobble Sprocket Differential, Left Hand Thread.

Apologies for any confustificationites! :B

[doh] Attention to details RA....

They say the wisdom comes with age, but there's proof positive here that the only thing that comes with your age is "all-timers"!!! :P :P :P

Trust me, lots of large companies still use ribbons, mainly for their huge line printers. Trust me, it's a lot cheaper than ink or toner cartridges! ;)

Gaussian, I think it is Minolta which has an A4 ribbon colour photo printer.

The Matan Sprinter is a 900 mm ribbon printer, uses vinyl as substrate.

Al, I'm talking about those huge line printers that companies use to print endless lists (in black), printed on what we called "zebra" paper :D
Some even had 1 or more carbon copies... try that with a laser or inktjet printer ;)

I don't program anymore, but in those days we always preferred the "Zebra" paper to print our our program sources. Did you ever saw a large source of a computer program? Print that on 100 single sheets (letter size) and try not to get lost ;)
