Could someone recommend a plugin to make 3D text for CS5 Extended?
I tried to use Cinema 4D & almost ended up checking myself into a nut house afterwards:banghead:
I had no idea it was so complicated to use...

I just need to make some good-looking 3D text...any recommendations?

Now that you have CS5 Extended it is quite natural to use it's 3D tools, I think. Have you tried them?

I tried when I first installed it but I was guessing (hoping) there was a decent plugin available....I tried Xara 3D text maker but it seemed kind of.....weird I guess...it was like you were limited to the presets and a few edits you could make yourself but the finished images just didn't look too good...

So, you tried PS 3D tools and... what? What made you start looking for something other?

3D in PS is quite capable once you get a hand at it. It's true it's sometimes buggy and wierd, but sometimes it can easily do miracles, which would take HEAPS of efforts and money to get in 3D centered software.

And sure such things like 3D text can be easily done in PS.

Anyway, PS opens quite a range of common 3D formats, no need to look for a special "plugin". Just export your 3D model and open it in PS.

No, there are no "plugins"...

Cause there is no need in one. PS has it's own 3D tools for making 3D models and also imports some 3D formats. Why there should be any extra "plugin"?

and finally photoshop cs6 extended lets you edit the text even after it has been extruded,

But I think most my 3d work will still come from cinema 4d

okay, I keep experimenting. Native depth-of-field (no fake lens blur), all stuff is rotatable, but rendered for ages.
