light saber needs more light

OK, it still didn't work, so I created a new doc. Something is up which I can't identify. Here's an img. It's a screen capture so not sure how clear.

Line of white pixels, outer glow selected; blend mode to normal - already fig'd screen didn't work - color set, size 32, spread 81. All I get is a sausage!

swap the posistions of the sliders over your spread needs to be lower and your size higher But that is it you have done it except for diffusion of the glow which i think will work nicely when you swap sliders over

hi ibclare

set the blend mode to "linear dodge or color dodge" to increase the highlights

Hope this helps

EDIT: You should use a soft brush instead of a hard edge brush it will add realism to your light saber, just my opinion

Can I retire now I am really Ill but even though it makes me really bad looking at a screen I have a PSG addiction and need to keep coming back to check on things lol Sorry if I have been slow in responding as and when I am awake (ish) I have been checking well done

is that a compliment or an insult lol its ok I have been sleeping on and off but gets worse when i lay down i need some TLC but my girlfriend has vanished and is currently out the country. My Mummy said I am to old to be calling her after midnight

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.... now quit looking at the screen, do you hear me?? I will have to enroll you in PSG anonymous pretty soon I think before you're a goner. See, it's killing you. Terrible, terrible addiction (but I'm not really sure if there's a cure). Mayhap if your sweetie were there she could peel you away from the computer. If I didn't live 5 thousand miles away or whatever I would. But then we might have a couple nose-disjointed honeys . . .

I might post my new jpeg but turn off your email program so you don't know it! There's always tomorrow or a cpl hrs from now. Here's a virtual bowl of chicken soup!

Go for it would like to see how it turned out in the end normally if something takes me that long to do normally I change my mind by the time i do it.

LOL. I hear that. Just goes to show you what a useless life I have at the moment. Well, I actually have to apply myself to job hunting for awhile today, wash the kitchen floor, and fold some laundry, and my gas tank has been on empty for 2 days (being unemployed it's not a crisis yet). Then I get to play some more.

OTOH, fiance has not left for work yet and I usually wait for him to go before I get bogged down in stuff, so maybe I have a bit of time to play while he showers and gets ready to go. Why not? Don't answer that, rhetorical.

You know what, I run into this fairly often and find myself making copies and flattening before I add more effects, etc. Here's the issue:
I'll have multiple layers and I'll add one to the top which I assume will place an object in the picture, unaltered from the way I design it when the layers are off. Lower layers will have blending mode adjustments or adjustment layers linked just to that layer. Yet the top layer will be affected by the lower layers even though transparency is 100%. Do you know what that's all about? IDK, maybe I'm dreaming. In this case, I can't expect an outer glow to overcome brilliant colors below it. But I swear there are times, yet I can't think of an example at the moment, so maybe I'm just being daft (isn't that a Brit word?). Tx, IB clare

usually happens when duplicating layers and merging them especially if you have layer masks on them for layer advice I am the worse person to ask if it gets past more than 5 layers the image gets flattened mount of time i have worked on the wrong layer etc all though now I have been very good and setting on layer groups and grouping say skin as a group eyes as anouther group talking about multiple people in 1 picture here by the way or if I am doing a lot of eding on a picture consisting of 3 people for example then each person gets their own group of layers

mmmmm, uh huh. I am going to have to explore groupings more. I haven't used them except when following a tutorial. I did go back to the warrior img and I'm not losing my mind. It is happening. First, I'm going to try flattening, save as, ctrl z, open jpeg, copy top layer and move it over. Then I'll play with groups and see if it will produce same result (with much less work). I could also use states, but I've screwed that up before, so I'll stick with what I know 4 the moment.

Are you feeling better today?

just create the sabre on the top layer and then transform it to fit the image when you load up the blending option for outer glow press the reset to default button first and then add the colour in case you have chaged the state of the default setting at some point (we have all done it )
ps (including me )

OK, I've had enough of this project and I haven't gotten to the kitchen floor yet. What a shock. Here's what I've got:

IF I do anything more with this, it'll be along the lines of what Belial did and mess with the figure instead of the backdrop. Again, a thousand thanks, munga toosen tuk (norwegian phonetically), IB
