Hello,

I am trying to recreate the chiaroscuro effects on an avatar face like it's done here:

Is it just dodge and burn? It doesn't seem like that to me...this is an example of what I did

The lighting effect on the hair was created with dodge while to do the lighting effect under the chin and on the lips I just painted white with a soft brush on a new layer on 70% intensity and then used gaussian blur and smudge. The result isn't bad but it's not as good as the one on the previous 3 images I posted. What could I do to improve?

And please excuse my English as I am not mother tongue.
