Nice work Eenya.

I like the style of both pages.

vickyswebdesign.com is very straightforward and clean, with a user-friendly interface. The only thing that I saw that I wished were different was on your Portfolio page. I wish you would have included links to the websites you have examples of so I could see more of your work. I'm not sure what type of agreement you have with the clients and if this is possible. You have a great looking site regardless.

I really dig the flowing lines that create the edges of rapidkillkenny.ie. Very smooth!

Dubya,,,

Thank you for your comments on my work. Oops I forgot to link the sites. Will do it tomorrow. I was so intent on getting the site up I missed this important factor.

Hi Eenya

I'm new to the forums since you were visiting but thought to say that I like the elegant simplicity of Vicky's Web Design a great deal. If I were to suggest anything it would be to have some simple rollover effect on the home page menu buttons. It's just a personal issue but I always like some visual clue that the links are hot (other than the info in the status bar, that is.)

When I went to the www.rapidkilkenny site it seems to me that some of the pictures which make up the visual imagery along the right hand side and top of the pages aren't loading so there are white blanks and the curved design is missing one panel. Is that so?

Good Work!

Welles

very well done Eenya, I can see the improvement from your earlier attempts... now if only I could figure this web stuff out... [doh]

this is what I see (below)
one suggestion perhaps I could make is see the white section on the right? how would the page look if it was the blue same as on left and scroll bar? [innocent]

Eenya and Sue,

Here's how the page loads using the latest version of Safari, Apple's new browser. I suspect it's a Safari thing...

hmmm... just an aside, i'm assuming that mark runs the stylesxp thingy to get his skins to work, which you have to pay for...

is this the only way to skin xp?

Hi Eenya! :)

Nice of you to drop back and show us what you've been up to! :righton:

Great progress!!! :} :} :}

Yep, your sites are clean looking, easy to navigate and nice and fast loading! :righton:

FYI, I'm running IE6 (1024*768) and get the same screen-shot as Sue has posted...lots of empty white space on the right. [confused]

[shhh] P.S. Bubble, re your "aside", there is more than one way to skin XP (apart from Styles XP)! There's WindowBlinds and a few others apps (a Google search will do ya)... some free and some not. Personally, I'd be 'cautious' of the freebies out there.... 8[

I see you have noticed the white space. The empty white space I deliberately left it as part of the deign. It is part of the over all look of the site..Do you think it looks like something is missing or does it look ok.???..
Thank you for your comments :D

Stickdiesel! I do not understand the question... ;\

oh no Welles really?
Is this another browser I will have to check my sites in too?
I wonder if the cells will have to have a size to get round this browser [innocent] hmmmmmmmmm thanks for saying something Welles :righton:

Sue,

Actually I thought that Safari renders web pages fairly faithfully. I tried Eenya's www.rapidkilkenny site in Internet Explorer for Mac and it loads the same as Safari. Just in case, I made the browser window smaller and AHA! there's the problem! My primary monitor is an Apple Cinema Display which is 1600px wide X 1024px high. My secondary monitor is a LaCie Blue II set at 1280 X 960. When Eenya's page loads in a window wider than 1024 the images start to break up and the oddities, which my screen shot displays, show up. Thus, it isn't a Mac thing but how the page behaves on larger screen real estate.

However, just a note on Safari. It has been developed by Apple Computer to work specifically well with OS X and I'll bet that at least half of Mac users who have migrated to OS X use it. There aren't too many bugs left in it and it is very solid for a relatively new browser and loads FAST! It's my browser of choice and has been for nearly a year after trying all of the dozen or so major offerings for Mac.

Welles how do I stop it from breaking apart? I set the table at 100%...Eenya

okay so it sounds as though we need to not set it at a percentage which is what Eenya has done but put the actual size

okay be the gineapig Eenya put the size of the image in the cell size and then we can ask Welles to check it :D

Eenya,

Alas, my knowledge of web design is very limited, however it sounds as though Sue's answer in the post just above this one is correct. I would be delighted to assist with checking results and/or posting screen shots.

Cheers!

Eenya,

Here's a screen shot of how the page is rendering when I open it up in a browser window which is full screen and what I normally use. Actually I cropped the image as there was a white border at the bottom and the left of the image which I'm posting. There has been a small change since my first shot but still some issues persist. Admittedly, relatively few people who will be visiting your site will ever encounter the issues I've pointed out.
