on a complete technique and inspiration downer at the moment, i really can't think i have the images in my head but i can't get them down into a PS document

basically what i specialise in (or like) is wallpapers, and usually based around FPS games such as Ghost Recon, Medal of honor, Arma or CoD.

all the tutorials out there for wallpapers are usually too bright, i usually favour a grungy effect or a dark smooth effect with dramatic lighting.
i don't want to be repetitive in styling like having them all that style. i like to vary my structuring.

but like i said i'm stuck for ideas, has anyone got any truly amazing effects that can be implemented into such a style?
and please if you post links to tutorials, can you make them easy to follow? thanks

for a minute there i thought you were agreeing with me XD bad eyesight sorry. well then what style are you all? surely Photoshop gurus has all ends of the table, no?
i'm sure when i'm in the right frame of mind i might be able to talk sense AND get good image but ATM, all over the place as you could tell by my fab use of foul language and a bad mood. luckily, i get out of those easily.

and trust me, i am, i know from idiotsperience :P

thanks for the tuts and guidance you two :D

This may help whit the light effects, it looks awesome and is not really that difficult to create

And as dv8_fx pointed, there's many times that every one of us got stuck in some creative less situation, maybe minutes, hours or even days "LOL"

But there's always a light at the end of the tunnel.
Just take a deep breath and carry on, you will come up whit something really awesome.

LOL....

Depends on what one started on.....

In my case, Photoshop appeared when I was involved in the era of the BY-HAND cut and paste process of graphic designing. Computers where still young at the time... 256 MB HD , 1MB RAM speed.......

Made life for us easy, tho.....

In your case and at your age, you're open to just about anything.... things that I never had the chance or time to explore.

I speak for myself.... dunno about others....

CHEERS...

Hi Zee. I like them. Here's just a bit of thought on the first one. Regarding the figures. The one in back is sharper and better defined. You might level him/her back a bit and maybe even add a slight blur. Then the front guy could maybe use a level or vibrance adjustment to make colors/contrast a bit deeper. Though -- on 2nd thought -- if you use a little depth of field on the back figure, you may not need to do anything to the other. Anyway, good work, nice direction you're heading. Cheers, Clare

I just took a closer look at the second one. This is just my opinion of course. The white explosion of the left is really blown out and you might try another layer on top with some thing to add definition (if you have already gotten all you can out of the existing shape -- did you take it through Bridge for highlight recovery?). Maybe another image of same type of thing, maybe even some of the grunge color to tint it a bit. I'm also a little uncertain about the smoky part of the effect around your warrior's arms. Maybe it's just that it obscures him a bit more than I'd like to see. If it were opened wider maybe to follow on the outside countour of the right arm, more like it is on the left arm. But I see why you like that one more, the effects are cooooool!

thanks for the pointers clare.
i've tried what you said, (i hope) and this was the outcome:
CoD unfinishedd2.jpg
hopefully that looks a little better :P

i had to leave the smoke in the left as it was for now, i will darken it though, or remove the radial blur but the obscurity has been reduced

i've got a battlefield 3 one coming up soon too :P

Hey Zee, thought you needed inspiration??? NO stopping you now. I like the changes. I still tihnk in the first one that the second figure needs to fade into the BG some more. I really like your latest two.

I hate to be nitpicky (but I will be anyway LOL), the composition of the last one is weighted too much on the right. If you moved the figures over just a little more to left, I think it would be better balanced. But others may disagree on that. And I also think the back figure could be brought closer in hue and/or level to the guy in front. Now I think I'm gonna run away and hide! :D

You're just getting better and better. Keep trying new techniques (and believe me, I'm talking about myself too; I'm no Guru). The more tools we have at our disposal, the easier, faster, and better the results.

Those 2 first in this page is very good (with updated colors too)!
But didn't liked last ones :) ... but that's just matter of taste really.

About inspiration. At moment of lack of inspiration one of best thing is leave project alone for a while and do something else. In photoshop or just relax or play bascetball :)
It helps for me. In next day everything is different. And things that seemed imposible now is easy. I think brain continuous to work "offline" with that problem and solve things without consciousness. Not allways but often.

Nice Job Zeealex

Great concept on the first image, i like the color scheme you used, on the soldier on the right side you could soften the edges a bit looks a bit too sharp, also could add something like a ground in which the soldier could be standing, maybe a subtle circular gradient or some kind of texture.

In the second one the background seems not matching the style of the characters on the right side, seems a bit too sharp and too realistic, in comparison, maybe zoom blur it a bit. and add a mixed gradient using the colors on the characters on the right.

Just my opinion.

And as a gamer myself, i can really appreciate the very good job, that you did whit this walls, it looks good.

I think I see what you're saying about the last two ones Senior. They aren't as cohesive overall as final compositions. Maybe they're not final yet . . . Zee?

sorry bout the late reply, i was doing the mnost human thing of all, sleeping XD

XD i did need inspiration it was increasingly difficult to think of anything i haven't implemented into an image of some sort yet and thought the almighty photoshop gurus may be the right peeps to go to about it, i think i'm all inspired up now, should keep me busy. any more new ones i get done will go in the show board.

i'm agreeing with balancing the second ones, i shall try move them over :P and i'll change the coloring in the back soldier too if that's what you mean.

righteous, i think sometimes inspiration hits me after a good night sleep, or watching a movie, or playing the game (that way i can get screenshots to use as resources)

agreed about the second one, i'll go in and fix that one up or totally recompose it. as for the first one, thanks, i tried to keep to the BF3 style so... and i'll soften him up and add some ground for him.

clare... i would say they arent final until i am certain it is final, and i don't think that second one is final XD
now i wait for photoshop to load :P
