I Want to Turn a Whale into Water

Thanks for the help, everyone. Yes, I know that my whale didn't come out how I originally intended; I was disappointed the first time I saw it. As Joy said, the tutorial for water effects didn't help much, but I did what I could. Thanks for the ice tutorial, ibclare; I may use that for another project sometime in the future.

My final thoughts are that I don't think Photoshop is advanced enough to really give us water effects. I hope that technology will show up in the nearby future.

Photoshop is plenty advanced for such a task, it is a matter of skill and skill alone!
This is the post of a devils number.

its hard to end up with that effect that youre trying to achieve because the artist that made those pictures used actual water and hair to achieve his desired affect. the closest thing i can think of is playing with the chrome effect in Photoshop and adjusting the blending modes. make copies of the original image and filter it with different effects then overlay them using blending modes. heres just a few minutes of playing with that effect. I tried what you said and this is the best I could come up with. Not really sure if it looks like water though. I chromed it, used different layer effects, liquified it, and used the healing brush.

Fantastic colleague. You are hell on wheels with the stamp tool! Nice job on the whole thing. It is always fun and instructive to watch someone's work flow. Thank you. BTW, what is the brush you are using on the whale's mouth?
