How to make lettering like toothpaste Aquafresh?

ha!

OMG that's so funny that he did that.

Did you do that beautiful tube image?? It's gorgeous!

I think I sent you off on a bad track though...I don't really want it to look like toothpaste. This is for a label for spa products and she wants it to be crisp and clean stripes, flat, simple. Not like toothpaste. I was just trying to explain that I wanted the stripes to follow the line of the letters rather than be a fill in the space of the letter...sorry, didn't mean to send you down an actual toothpaste path!

I LOVE your tube image. It's really really beautiful!

Anyway, I'm going to leave this forum, with all the spam it's not fun anymore and this problem has already been on this forum for months and nothing gets solved.

I will start my own Photoshop forum, because obviously this owner has no clue to run one (also all these ads are extremely annoying!)

Really? I don't know that I've ever used this forum before but I don't see any ads...? So far my experience has been great because you were so helpful!

Use Pattern and Pattern Overlay

Try making your stripe into a pattern (Edit . Define pattern...)

Then add the Pattern Overlay layer effect. Select your stripe pattern. Change the scale as you wish.

ok well you can try doing my way for as many stripes as ya like but ya gonna have to put some pen work in. but if i was you i would try to talk her out of this design reason being not because its to hard but its a pretty crap idea reason is the text i did is at 1000 by 1000 the one i posted here is 500 by 500 yet the area where the stripes are is at best 150px now you make that image even with just the 3 stripes down to say buisness card, flyer, website banner size the lines start to look merged can look great at 1000 by 1000 but i know no matter what it will look total rubbish small size.

IMHO, the best way to do it is in Illustrator. Create striped patterns for path, caps and joints and define Pattern brush. Then draw your letters with the path tool and stroke them with this brush.

And finally copy-paste letters in Photoshop, add Bevel style, Drop shadow, etc.

It's much straightforward, simple and natural than pure Photoshop techs. I tried and got perfect results.
