Yeah, I didn't even try Photoshops 3D. Might have a go at it just to see though.

I was looking at your template.... why not put the ellipses crisscrossing at an angle? hexagons will fit into the panels created by the crisscrossing pattern.

Thanks Hoogle... She looks good. Maybe I'll adding a texture to it.

But my client spec calls for an old-fashioned, hexagon-facet cut, old style Xmas ball. Actually its not a Xmas ball.... (lol)... just a ball like what you have there.

No worries... I can get this done.... The above was just a practice run. Next problem is the actual texture.... it's called CAPIZ - a material made from a type of Philippine oyster shell.....
