Oh we really do need a space for moaning and venting computer headaches don't we?
Never ever let a well intended family member touch your computer I say
Out of the blue my hubby decides late last night to be a help me and installed the new High Sierra to my Mac since he had already done all of his computers down stairs..... He never touches my personal work computer unless I ask but for some reason he decided to do me a favor and it went terribly wrong. This new update erases all the old system and completely reloads it so it takes a long, long time to complete but finally it finished and I got out of bed to turn off my computer when all that was showing was a real hazy picture and a huge black square and locked down tighter than Fort Knoxs...complete and utter crash.
My fault for not backing it up sooner as life got in the way and I had forgotten..... so the latest back up was almost 90 days old. Good news is all my work was stored in a external hard drive so all was well and no unfinished projects lost...just the hassel of staying up to midnight to reload a old copy, then update everything all over again and sift through the lot to weed out the trash I no longer wanted on it any longer that was reinstalled. Then find a copy of a important skin color chart a member had sent me on here and get that saved again...etc
Oh well lesson learned.... back up on a regular schedule and always back up before installing anything.......Bet ya I wont be forgetting to do that anymore.
Gezzzzz what a night
