Help to enhance Whale Shark Photos!

Hi all, from a new member!

I was hoping to find some advice/help on some underwater photos of Whale Sharks I was lucky to get. I am travelling Asia, and managed to take some photos of the biggest fish in the sea, these really are once in a life time photos for me. Unfortunately I lost my underwater camera and the one I hired was not such good quality.

I would really like to "fix" these as much as possible. Their is alot of noise, the colour is off - the photos lack detail in either the shark, or myself. I was thinking I would have to work on the images separating myself and the shark and clean them up seperatlely. Either that or take the best photos of the shark, and the best images of me and combine them. Some people may say this is fake but IMHO it's just recreating the truth.

I have photoshopped a little, but these are a bit beyond me. Advice is very much appreciated, if someone fancies a challenge I would love them to see what they could do. I might even be willing to pay a modest amount as it would mean alot to me.

I'll try and upload a couple of the photos in full quality untouched. If someone wants any other photos to use just let me know as I have about 100 poor quality shots!

Thanks very much, Andrew

Have uploaded selection of shots, some with me in, some just the sharks. Leave it to others to decide on the nicest shots - ideally I'd like one or two photos with me in...

I grabbed the easiest one and enhanced it a little using curves, selective color, dust and scratches, median filter, unsharp mask, and healing brush.

Hey Andrew,

First of all...epic photos. Looks like a true once in a life time experience :) I grabbed one of your whale shark photos and applied some color balancing, HDR toning, stamp tool to remove noise, smart blurring on specific channels, and some masking to isolate specific areas of the photo. I posted the original and the revised versions below. Hope this helps,

Best regards,

Trey

wow all I can say is I'm totally amazed. I realised you photoshop guy's can do some great work but the source photos seemed so poor in all regards. Had to double check they were my photos at all! For my perfect shot I would like to have me in the photo with the sharks, at a realistic, is this possible?

Incredible work!
