Get rid of Miley app.

Don't tell me you people of my age group took up the bell-buttoms, long hair, marijuana and defiance to authority coz our parents didn't keep an eye on us? Back then, it was the in-thing, coolest trend..... started by? ..... your parents? teachers?

I understand Vee's point and don't totally disagree, but IamSam is right too.

I think the issue is what is now considered "acceptable" in society.
The "parent generation" of today's kids grew up with Castle Wolfenstein and the internet.
IMHO that's part of the problem.
Today's wide open internet, and games like Mortal Combat or Grand Theft Auto seem to be fine with the today's parent generation.

Kids see too much and experience too much on line and on TV at an age where they aren't mature enough to understand and sort it all out.
Their parents grew up with an earlier version of the same thing.
Add to that we're now so (PC) with our "tolerance", "understanding" and "acceptance" of alternate values, it's no wonder the kids are screwed up and confused.

On the other side of this this conversation, this has been going on for hundreds of years ......... "It's a shame about kids today", ... "when I was a kid" ......"

I think the smart kids see through this foolishness and excel, God help the rest of them.

If one of my kids acted like that on stage 'star or not' i would have been so disappointed with her. She acted like a spoilt brat and showed others how not to portray your self, a disgrace no wonder her 'fiance' as dumped her and good on him.

Don't get me started on TV. How many children say in real life, much less think, the lines you hear on these inane sitcoms?! I am sure the 4 and 5 year olds are great at memorizing but get one to explain what they just said. It's a truly bad role modelling. Talk about peer pressure.

When I was growing up, it was pressure on women from commercial interests (and Hugh Hefner, et al) to have the perfect body. Oh wait, it still is. Yeah sure, I want to walk around with my personal airbrush artist. "Please get that lump of cellulite smoothed over for me so I can wear my bikini now." More warped role models. In order to do something unique, those who lack creativity like Miley, resort to revolting, narcissistic performance.

So, is this just an example of every generation having its own version of revolution, just evolution . . . or devolution?

Whew. Getting off the soapbox and going to bed now. :bustagut:

Is your sister a bad mother?
YES!!!! She's a single mother who works full time! By her own admission she lacks time, money, knowledge, and desire to be a proper parent! Her idea of parenting is doing whatever it takes to get her daughters to leave her alone. They want their mothers attention so they escalate bad behavior, they perceive her wrath as attention, and they will settle for that.

Was the doctor out playing golf when he should have been at home with the kids?
YES!! He's far to busy and his absentee debutant trophy wife pawns the parenting off on ancillary staff. His daughter has been running wild since she was about 8.

I don't think it's a good idea to curb your children's adventurous spirit. They learn nothing in the process. Don't we give them space to grow on their own?
I agree, but there's a fine line there that's not being reinforced by modern parenting.

A child's character training begins at home. And it's up to the parent to see to it. That is and should be their first duty and priority. If they don't do their duty or lack in it, they should be prepared for what may come.

I was pointing out the trouble parents have to contend with by giving space to children. What they do in their private moments can cause problem. Outside (or internet) forces can create/influence undesirable character situations.

I'm not out to blame parents for their misgivings. But there are also many instances of siblings who acted and did terrible things. And who's parents are caught off-guard knowing they've done all they can as the parents they should be. All they can do now is express their shock and convey their apologies for the matter.

Taking it as a whole picture, Society should also lend a helping hand. But what the present day society is breeding, allowing and feeding our young is unacceptable. Because of this, it makes children act stupidly coz they see "everyone of my age is doing it" and the adults don't seem to be doing anything about it.

Governments of all nations expect their peoples to act in an appropriate manner for the sake of Nation and character building. Yet they allow these things to happen and get away with it .... all because of the right to express themselves? A clause that appears in their respective constitutions?

So we have this Miley fiasco...... As well as others we find all over the net and in the news...... What are the stalwarts of governments and the industry, the "people in the right frame of minds", prepared to do about it?
