LOL, yes, it sure is, and I had to stop myself from going overboard, hehehe;) :P

My Turn

Didn't use color dodge but tried a few other permutations. settled on Linear dodge and then played with the levels.

nice one Silvrwolf

I accidently did the Linear dodge when I was doing them but liked the effect so did a few more

Great job, SilvrWolf, I really like that one :)

Thanks Gaussian, LOL, no way would I miss this challenge ;). You never know, maybe I'll come up with another one, just not today, it's almost midnight here now. Late again.

Charcoal Bride

Instead of a pencil drawing I advanced the levels even more for a charcoal effect.

Solitaire & SilvrWolf... great stuff! :righton: :righton:

Yeah, BG, that's a real nice look there! :righton:

After trying this technique, Ive got to say, it's a great one. Very good jobs by you folks. But I'll also add, that I tried it, and can't for the life of me get anything close to the details that some of you are getting.

I was hoping that I could surprise someone wiht a nice "portrait type" of drawing. Any tips for the BEST settings to use for a face photo? Do you use the lowest setting? or am I missing something simple?

ricib, as I recall, it does take a lot of practice (an educated eye) to decide just how much of a blur to apply. It's all dependent on the size of the picture... and all kinds of other stuff, like quality, contrast, colours, etc. Besides the experimentation thing, you might want to try desaturating a colour photo first and then evening out the highlights and lowlights a tad. Too much contrast in a picture will result in thick heavy lines when you adjust the threshold.

It's been a while since I used this technique... but that's what I recall from going through my own experimentations.

Good Luck! :) Look forward to seeing your results.

Yes and I also might add that many times you will have better results if you resize the final image to 50%.

My first try...my boyfriend.

mongo, excellent results for your first try! :righton: As I recall, mine weren't nearly as good! [innocent] Way to go!:righton:

Thanks. I like this technique a lot.
