3D Dragon wip

Kiwi, I'm starting to hate you. First the catman, and now this.

This is a t-rex that I started a long time ago. I resurrected him ever so briefly, especially since edge-loops were mentioned.

Primary edge-loops and secondary edge-loops drawn in. Now, the pivot point of the mandible is actually a bit farther back than the 6 sided pole, but it deforms beautifully dispite that. I did a mock rig, and the deformation is gorgeous with minimum tweaking on the envelope.

There are also detailing edge-loops around the eye and nostril.

Yeah, Bay is a genious for identifying and exploiting edge-loops. They take mesh deformation to the next level with out the fumbling.

Are you going to texture your dragon head, Kiwi?

Ooooooh... looking good there Stu! :righton: How smart of you to visit Jurassic Park! :) [stuned] Can't wait to see how you texture him. :)

Between you, Erik and Stroker, I barely can understand what y'all are saying most times, but I always appreciate and admire the work. :}

Stroker: Kiwi, I'm starting to hate you. First the catman, and now this.
:bustagut: :bustagut: Stroker! I call that 'inspiration'! :righton:

Thanks guys :}

Hahahaaa Stroker - I have tried to model a decent Dragon for over a year now,and every time I got close my modelling skills would let me down.This time however I think I can nail it,thats why I am going slow :righton: :D .....Texture you bet but when I finish the whole Dragon.My last texture effort took me a week,texture looked good but the mesh underneath was poos,ah and all that unwrapping.... :( ...never mind this one will kick gluteus maximus :righton:

Wendy you will get used to the lingo,it just gows on you,make that all over you :D

Thanks Erik :)

Stu.

That looks really nice Stroker :} ......I have a fairly busy {clean but busy} mesh to allow the detail,I prefer creating detail with mesh then relying on a bump most of the time.

Ooooh almost forgot there is a new bug with Max and the new Windows service pack,hope that does not effect you [stuned]

Stu.

teeth... big, bad, ugly teeth... :bustagut:

I know, they are a com'n... just fart'n with yas... look'n good guys :D :righton: I still can't wait to see those big bad and ugly teeth :D

When you install ServicePack4 for Win2000, your Max files get corrupt.

Does not influence WinXP, or 98.

I was unaffected by that SP4 madness. :whew:

Eric, an e-mail to you bounced.
I'll PM you when I get a chance.

Ah glad it didnt get ya :}

Gidge I am going to design this one a bit more carefully :D ,I am already playing with teeth shapes :)

Stu.

No really [stuned] ,I never would have guessed :D ....just messing with ya bud :D

Normally I find all manner of ways to get the teeth polycount way down,but I have decided teeth are really important so I am going to model them properly.I have also found through experimenting they tell you a lot oabout the beastie involved ie is it Alien etc by its teeth :) .......but I still have truckloads to do yet before I tackle teeth.

Stu.

New update.....well actually not really,it was new this morning when I took the screen shot,now it looks different again [confused] :D

Stu.

... man, what a ton of poly pushing eh?
I gets dizzy just contiplating it... :bustagut: :bustagut: [confused] [confused] :bustagut: :bustagut:

Looking good bud :righton:

[excited] Coming along very nicely Stu! :righton:

Looks great Stu, quite some amazing modeling :righton:

Personally I'm not so fond of the head (anymore) though and then mostly the areas under his eyes. I know that it's a mythical animal, but still...
I mean, you did some really good modeling of the neck, corpse, legs and tail but suddenly the head seems to be out of place.
Just my personal opinion though, after all, it's not that we see dragons every day :D

Thanks Gauss :)

The wrinkles mean I dont have to paint them on a bump map Gauss.Do a close up on a model with a bump and you can see its flat :)

I will blend the head and neck better yet as well.

Cheers Sue :)
