Cutting my dog from a photo and putting on another background

I've been trying to come up with something but didn't like the outcome. Most probably coz I was working on your image and trying to superimpose a spotlight background like yours. The outcome may be different if I had a layer of just Sadie in it.

I'll try again later in the day... this time with a layer copy of her without the background.

coming to 4 am and time for lizards to sleep.... lol

If you are having fun messing with it and want I can send you a rar file with the stuff I used to create what I created....

To start you off with an idea I had in mind....

make a vignette layer copy of just the two inner spotlights - enough to cover Sadie. Then experiment with the blends.\

How to create the vignette copy?

Create a duplicate background layer, position it above Sadie and text.

With the lasso tool, create the selection in the spotlight area.... Feather the selection - set it to 25 (an estimation but may differ according to your image resolution)...

Invert the selection and hit delete.

This will leave you with the spotlight with the edges fading......

Here are some of the original things I started working with:

The original picture of Sadie:

Here is Sadie cropped from the photo. I watched THIS video on Youtube to learn how to do it:

Here is the background I found with a google search:

And here is the text I created. It took a long time because I could not figure out how to get the effects I wanted so I sat here playing with all the effects until I got something I liked:

The above pictures are actually quite a bit larger on my end (except the text). I posted them on Photobucket and I guess they cut things down to a max of 800x600.
