CS5 on iMac

I am setting up a (hastily bought on eBay) second hand mac, after blowing my 27 inch iMac up!

I have a few problems….

I had saved my workspace & will have this backed up. But I don’t know what its called & where to find it & how to install it. I had also saved my colour settings, but had no trouble putting those back.

When saving an image (save as.) The panel looks “different” to what I would expect. Like a windows or Microsoft save as instead of adobe, difficult to explain this one! Is there somewhere to change this, I vaguely remember something similar happening previously, but don’t remember the details.

MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL.....When images are open, the slide OVER the top of the tool panel on the left & the actions/history panel on the right. How do I set I up to slide UNDERNEATH those?

Welcome to the site, some members run imac's and i dare say one or two will be along in due time to help you.

I have always used Macs but don't understand your dilemma try explaining again if you're looking for your files they may be under home or your filename or login name

I second iDads comment!

The command for a screen capture on a Mac is: Shift + Command + 4 + Then, mouse click (and hold) a bounding box around the area to be saved. The screenshot will be saved to your desktop.

Bring up the "Save image panel" and take some screenshots of what it is your referring to! Do the same for the "slide?".

And yes, you can post images here.

i often have 3 or 4 or more files open at the same time, I need them to slide under the tools and panels, in order to work on them. I cant understand why they go over the top.

Am I mistaken in thinking that a "saved" workspace can be imported back, on a newly installed photoshop? If so, there isn't any point in saving the workspace?

I am still a bit confused but if you click on finder anywhere on the desktop go to finder preferences view options and look there, is what you're looking for within that window?

The image I see for save as is open and active I can tell that because of the blue highlight where you type the name. any window that is active has to be on top to be active just click the picture below it, pulling up front? But again perhaps I'm confused

Although while you're in "save" window your workspace is in save mode, you need to close that window to do you're work, and open save as again

no, no...these 2 issues are not related. I want an open, image to go under the tools. Always has before on PC's & now the macs. This new, mac however, is really fighting me! The save as box, neither here nor there really, I will live with it. I cant even put my finger on why its different, but remember before, that there was a "photoshop" TYPE box & a "system" type & it could be changed. been using photoshop since photoshop 6.

just done this screenshot. the image goes UNDERNEATH the Navigator, but OVER the TOP of The tools. It would be the same, over the other side, over the top of my actions/layers/history etc panel. I can't run an action, until I drag it out of the way.Screen Shot 2013-10-15 at 15.57.57.png Must be some setting somewhere, really simple!

Sorry I'm still confused maybe you mean in preferences > personal under general you can change the appearance check that out in the top menu bar within finder click on the Apple> and then system preferences >personal >general.... Is that it?

Are you saying you want to keep the tools on top in preferences of Photoshop not the Mac system

It's strange it always stays on top for me try resetting?
