cs2 upset

Jonbalza, if you read the newsgroup articles in Adobe's newsgroup, then you would understand that this is a driver issue, caused by a new API that Adobe uses in CS2. Adobe hasn't come up with a solution (or workaround) yet, so I don't think any of us is going to solve it if you ask my honest opinion. Either Adobe will find a solution or the solution has to come from the video card manufacturers by releasing updated drivers.
That's why I've said repeatedly in this thread (at least 3 times now) to try upgrading his video drivers. He hasn't responded back yet with that info, or even what video card he has.

So because of his ignoring of the subject, I was going for other common causes of PS slowdown.

the answer is no i havent updated any video cards or drivers... i iwlll do tho...

but why should you have to update the drivers and video card when the pc is new..... and teh software is to... should it all work nicley like on prior versions

The reason is that Adobe chose to use an (apparantly) uncommon API call in the new version of Photoshop. Because this is not used very often, (my understanding is that it's a 2d call, not a 3d feature, which many video cards are designed for these days) some drivers may not correctly handle it. This needs to be fixed by the video card manufacturers, not Adobe.

(But that's just my non-engineers understanding of the whole issue.)

You haven't? [stuned] That's the first thing you should look with software problems like these, just as Chris Cox, he's telling us this already for years and he's 100% right. ;)
