Of course people skills are a massive part of taking pictures of people, but my point still remains, there is no difference between shooting children and adults.
Try it Chad. Kids with parents floating in the shooting area can and will ruin a child's experience with a good shooter. People skills are vastly different when shooting "Bubbles" or a CEO, or even Mom and Dad. I could never show the needed patience to shoot a child with a Lamb (popular at Easter) in the studio , BUT would have no issues with a busy CEO in his office.
Shooting great pictures of people is a REAL ART.....
