Note: I name all my computer backgrounds "BG", for those of you who where wondering

I like the changed versions better. Although, I'm not sure if I like how the girl's hair and shoulders in the second image are faded out.

Yes I think you feathered the mask a bit much on that one.

ahhhhh,yeah i used the eraser tool for that haha, im a reeeeeel beginner, haha

Just a suggestion here but you need to get familiar with Layer Mask's when doing those sort of things... If you had masked instead, you could go right back with your brush and paint her hair and shoulders back in, if you are using cs5 that job would be really easy..
