Catastrophic Clone Stamp Bugs

CS5 and CS6 (64-bit Win 7) have catastrophic bugs, which make the software unusable. Just installed CS5 which behaves identically to CS5. Both Clone Stamp and Healing Tools are wildly unstable, creating often insidious damage. Either of these functions will randomly clone non-source content to non-target locations. Target can be anywhere and will sometimes be up to a 6" long streak, or sometimes just a smaller target area. If image is saved without bug damage being seen, damage is unrecoverable. Any known fixes? It is easy to miss seeing this type of catastrophic damage, so neither version can be used. Last I contacted Adobe, they were clueless and I may have to switch to Corel Photo-Paint, as at least it is stable.

I have heard of a similar issue a while back I read someone had the same problem it turned out that there graphics card was faulty so anything that used open gl like liquify & clone for example was messing up try turning off open GL in the preferences under performance.

That said ways that may help you and tips for clone tool and similar tools except patch tool

Do your cloning on its own single blank layer but make sure in the top bar you have the option of sample all layers or current layer and below for your source.

Reset the clone tool or your preference file may be the issue if this has transferred from cs5 to cs6 you can do this by when launching photoshop immediately press control+ shift+ alt and follow the steps to reset your file.

It could be that you have accidentally changed the clone brush to 1 that has dynamics in it so possible reset your brush tool and make sure when you are using the clone tool that you are either using the 1st default brush or the 2nd 1 if you want a hard edge brush

Make sure your clone tool mode is set to normal

aligned sample box is checked

then go to window > clone panel and open up the seperate clone control panel making sure you dont have any offset selection changes
