can you help me out please?

i have used the pen tool a LOT in illustrator but never in photoshop. i think it is the same!
but everytime i did it. i could never get the line selected so i could just paint that part

well looks like i dont have pen tool on photoshop elements. i got a new comp so now my old photoshop is gone :(

Oh Elements, I have Elements ver7 installed and no, I don't see it.

The key to everything is a good selection, you need to try another selection tool.
I'll play with it and see if there's another way that works in Elements.

i kinda got it. but not good selection it looks good to give me an idea lol

I did this in Elements 7 with the polygon lasso tool.
Start from the outside with the first loop and with "Subtract from Selection" selected.
Then the upper and lower inside loops, finally around the logo.
With that selection made, hold down the Alt key and create a Brightness and Contrast adjustment layer.
A duologue box will open, check the box "Group with previous layer"
Slide Brightness all the way down and Contrast all the way up.

wow! I didn't realise this was still going.

I would have done it all for you and shown you how for £10.

May I suggest you get the full photoshop, and learn how to use it, or pay ten pounds for it to be done quickly.

i did have full photoshop. but that comp crashed. and now i dont have it anymore. i got elements with this computer

if i can get my comp back up. do you think i could just copy it over?
I'm not sure what you mean "Copy it over"?

You need to install and activate PS with a valid serial number.
You are allowed 2 installations of PS with a single Ser#.

If you have a crash that wipes out a valid PS install, Adobe is pretty good at helping you out, at least in my experience.
You need to prove you're the purchaser and holder of a valid Ser# and they will help you reinstall your crashed installation of PS.

Sorry if this is repeated info...I didn't want to wade through every single response (but what I did read...didn't contain this info)

To make a clean selection on your grill there are two ways to do it (so it looks good anyway)

1) Use the pen tool and silo it out with a path. This method takes forever though...

2) Make a quick mask ("q") using a small hard edged brush (black paints, white erases), this takes a bit but you will have an excellent selection (be sure to save your selections so you can re-activate and use to fine tune)

Method number 2 is standard procedure for making good selections. Before you can make quality corrections/changes you need quality selections.
