I assume you don't have these in Raw.

I copied one of them and opened it in Adobe Photoshop's Raw program. You'll have to set under the edit menu > prefs >file handling> Prefer Adobe Camera Raw for JPEG files. Check the box and then right click on the orginal picture and choose open with Photoshop.

I got the picture to be probably good enough for what you want by adjusting the recovery and fill light and viberance.

The image will now be in 16 bit, so you when you transfer it to Photoshop, you will have change it back to 8 bit by using the Image menu > mode > 8 bit

Not sure what the rules are here on editing other peoples images without them asking, so I didn't attach my copy.

:eek: DOUBLE .....WHOSAID THAT..... :eek::mrgreen:

I would have kept the right area darker, but the edit in that area was good, as is the sky, but I can't do what I want with a global edit. There's three areas to be adjusted. I can adjust the bright hillside with levels to show more contrast and saturated colors, but anything I do is going to affect the bottom edge of the cloud. The transparency of the clouds probably cant be separated from the land.

I can't tell which photo you worked on, but it looks like the one that shows the artifact. The bottom of the cloud is curvy rather than wisp.

I've been reading about using channels to create masks. Will pursue that for a while, when I get around to it again. Thanks for the effort.

Spam?
The first two replies are 2 Mods asking rdtindsm to post the problem image.
There's no hint of spam here.

Flattracker, Thanks for your efforts to try and help rdtindsm with his problem.
IMHO, there's nothing wrong with editing and posting another member's photo in an effort to help.
How can you help with a solution without trying the edit yourself, I'm sure rdtindsm would agree.

I've been away for a week but I'm going to play around with the image myself, and see if there's anything I can come up with.

Is this closer to what you're looking for?

All I tried to do was darken the sunlit area without affecting the clouds to much.
I tried to measure how dark I made it based on your edited photo.
