Adding attractive Watermark on a picture

splash, how much training and experience do you have in Photoshop? I think your problems with tackling this type of project come from trying to learn all new techniques all at once and you are bound to go wrong somewhere. Why don't you upload your psd so we can get a better idea of where you are stuck.

Here is my work which I have so far managed out.

Explain to me about the Layers please:

When exactly do I need to create a duplicate layer?
ANY visible object needs a new duplicate layer before adding?
At the end, do I have to merge the original layer with others or what?

Basically I'm trying to make a watermark out of this logo so canvas size wouldn't matter I guess.

I've been following this from the start....

There is no need to duplicate layer unless it is needed.

You have to create each object on a blank layer. That way you can position them properly or easily delete a part without affecting the other elements.

Once done, you can merge all the layers the pertinent layers into one and add the other effects... glow, shadows....

Then merge all layers including the text and stars.

Redo the ellipse and rectangle shape on separate layers . Once done, we'll continue with the rest of what you need to finish it.

I'm trying the video tutorial of Hoogle and almost done. At the moment, I just changed the text in file to my liking since I need it urgently but later would make my own. So now tell me how do I make Hoogle's uploaded file as a watermark?

You need to turn of the white layer add a hue saturation adjustment layer at the top to change the colour to whatever you like or just effect the ligtness slider to make it white or black merge all visible layers makeing sure you have the layers in the folders and background switched off. Then file save as a png format. then open up your image and drag the png you just saved in over the top of it. And adjust the layer opacity.

You don't have to create the main logo on a large canvas. Only when you are finished with the main logo that you open a new image at the size needed to create the watermarks. Say for an A4 sized image, open a new document at that size, drag and drop the logo into the document. AND THEN create duplicates of logo layer. These you position in the doument. Look around the forum. Most especially in FREELANCE SECTION. There you will see examples of images submitted with watermarks on the entire document.

UNLESS... you only want one watermark logo on the image.... just drag and drop the logo into the image and play with layer mode or layer opacity.

As an example, here's my dv8_fx chop on LiZad.... withe a white glow and lowered opacity....

EEeewwww I dont like the glow effect. I believe a watermark should be crisp and clean so the viewer can immediately recognise who owns the image\ video etc no distracting elemens and certainly not bold enough to ruin the image\video

i know dv8 wasnt criticising your work it was a point in general. With the Glow to anyone with any photoshop knowledge will look at it and think it is a badly masked out image on top

Would this give me the resulting glow effect of the watermark similar to the one I attacked in my first post?

No once you open up your Png in the image right click the layer and select blending options add an outer glow and choose the colour and amount as you see fit by adjusting the sliders.

I am trying to record action as watermark for placing a logo on a picture as watermark but when I 'Play' the watermark action on another picture, it becomes abnormal and doesn't place it on the picture. I did make a text watermark easily and it's recorded successfully. How do I do the same for the logo?
