This challenge is to create an android or robot.

There will be a poll for member voting when all the entries are in.

The thread will be closed Friday, SEP. 14th, 10pm GMT, and voting can begin.

Do your best to find a high resolution or large photo to work with.

The inspiration for this is a post by Denny Ison featuring the incredible work of michael o:

Here are some more images for inspiration, including those from an interview with michael.

Here are some tutorials you may want to follow or use to help with parts of your manipulations. You may also choose to use your own ideas to interpret an effect you like.

The other eye section needs something mate.

I did redo yours for a gif file thing, maybe a subtle eye insert just to show it as one?

Go red with the eye.

This isn't the showboard guys. This is a Photoshop Challenge. How about your contributions?

Nice one Inkz, done with your usual attention to detail and skill; not to mention artistic sensibilities. Thanks for participating.

If only people realized how much taking up these challenges can increase their understanding of Photoshop, improve their skills, and keep their imagination active.

I would love to...But I am not even close to any of these!

Yes I'm gonna keep trying!

Nice one sprucemagoo. Interesting effects. I'm glad to see your piece.

@Mike: just pick up a tutorial and follow the steps. You can just make one effect if you like. You'll always be glad you did because you'll learn something new. Give it a shot.

Here's the thing Mike, and anybody else thinking these are above your level of skill:

These are not necessarily easy projects for anyone. I am thinking about making a robot and I can see it taking me all day. There's no rush on making one and posting it in this thread; there's almost 2 weeks to the deadline! Just follow the tutorial steps slowly and if you have trouble understanding one, come here and ask about it. It's not always easy to interpret what someone says in a tutorial. Seems obvious to the tutor but not necessarily to the tutee!

Great treatment on the eyes. Spooky. Keep trying out techniques. When you get a chance, do one of the tutorials. It is amazing how easily you will start to pick up techniques and ideas. And you'll say, "I know how I can do/want to do that" because you'll have learned some cool techniques a month or two back and now it really applies.

I like where you're going with that. If you want to keep going, I suggest keeping the eyes pretty much as they are for the time being at least, then changing the style, color balance, saturation, or something of the rest of the image. Make the eyes pop. Just an idea. Or go on to a new image.

Oh yeah, I'm liking that Mike. Maybe the eyes are now popping a bit tooo much, but I guess that would depend what you're doing next. I suggest you put on a layer mask and clean up those ragged edges. Most unbecoming, lol.
