Specific Blend kids to look more realistic

I tried to make my kids turn into letters HoHoHo and place them on the shelf. I am having trouble blending it along with colors so iy looks ,ore realistic. Much appreciated.

Not a great image to start with - lots of repeating patterns on the wall behnd the girls, lo res, etc.

Made a try as well, this was painful without the original PSD XD
I was working on the letters not floating on the wall (2 image) but I'm not sure if it works well or if it will be too much on the image. I did only half.

Not perfect, but in case it helps...
