Wrapping ruler guides around a layer selection?

Hi,

Trying to figure out whether this is possible: I want to select an object in a layer (i.e. I ctrl-click it to select the object in the layer) and then automatically set the rulers to the four borders of that selection i.e. top, bottom, left and right as if I'd dragged my guides to the edges of each side of the object.

That make sense? Is it possible?

Thanks

osu

sorry I don't follow, can you try again with your question?

Auto setting the ruler offset is not possible, but adding guides to all four side is.
The following script will add guides to all fours sides of a selection.
Photoshop CS3 or better required.

Hi Paul,

This is exactly what I was looking for, thanks. Is there a quick way to run this script without clicking the File > Scripts > Browse and looking for the script? I.e. is there a keyboard shortcut I can set up or a faster way to do it?

Many thanks,

osu

Yes there are a couple of ways:-
1) Create an action using "Insert Menu Item" This can be allocated a function key.
2) Create a keyboard shortcut. Edit - Keyboard Shortcuts - File, select the script and use your prefered shortcut.

Glad it works for you!
