...about the quality your picture turns into when you post it in a comment? I looked at a picture I just posted like, 'That **** is not my photo'.

I just had same problem it is to do with your images not saving colour profile normally fixed if you click the image and open it up properly rather than the embedded preview

Png images seem to retain more colour and quality over jpegs for wen useage

Can you explain a little more about 'opening up properly'? I just click the image button of the comment section and upload the photo.

by actually clicking the image in the post after posting your post. The image displayed in thread is just a compressed preview file which doubles as a link to the actual uploaded version.

Hoogle and Egosbar's comments are on the mark.

a) Fortunately, the problem Hoogle pointed out is easily taken care of: Always export in the sRGB color space and you should be fine with respect to color both in this forum as well as with respect to color differences when viewing in different browsers. Fortunately, most of the major browsers now recognize a few of the major color profiles and don't merely assume all photos are in sRGB, but it's better to be safe and only post sRGB files.

b) Let me tighten up Egosbar's answer: On this forum, if you want the in-thread thumbnails to look good, only post images that are NO MORE THAN 700 px wide, and no more than 300k in size. If you disregard this, the forum upload software invokes a very heavy handed file compressor and this causes the effect that you saw. If you really need to post the full-rez version, as Hoogle suggested, just tell people to ignore the in-thread thumbnail and click on the thumbnail to get to the full-rez version that only has the compression you put on the image.
