Which format?

Sorry for the lack of title and my English.
I'm kinda new to PS and at the learning stage atm.
I was plunging through some Lynda tutorial some time ago and they discussed a "format" thay you could resize how big you wanted, without any problems with pixels or distortion.
The format is/was used mainly by printing etc, but i can't remember the format.

Any help with that?

That would be a vector based image. There are two kinds of images, raster and vector.

Raster are made up a bunch of pixels and vector is solid colors.
