when resizing pictures, the unit of pixels has disappeared

as I said: when resizing pictures, the unit of pixels has disappeared. I have no idea when and how it happened but it is no longer available to me. have a look: in this screen shot I am trying to resize a simple JPG and I need pixels.

Put a checkmark in Resample Image and it will return to the top section.

Unfortunately that didn't happen for me :-( any other ideas?

You change the pixel dimensions in the top section, labeled Pixel Dimensions.

Can't believe I didn't look at those options properly, of course I need to use the top section :-(
