It has happened a few times, people think I was depressed, sad..when creating something, when I just had a blank mind and didn't mean anything.
Or do they know more than I do?:)

Hi fotoG, you should do a PSG search on doodling. The subject of mindless meanderings was discussed at length.

In my opinion, there is no such thing as mindless creation in humans. Whether or not you understand/comprehend the underlying thought process that led you to your outcome is irrelevant. However, if your work is doom and gloom, this is not necessarily a direct reflection of your state of mind as it could be just a preference. I can easily depict a sad or depressed moment based on my own personal experiences even if I'm happy and content with my life. All of which are well thought out processes and not some blank mindless a-synaptic comatose condition.

IamSam is right. One of my best pieces took weeks to complete and I enjoyed every minute. I was ecstatic when I saw the final product for the first time in large print. But guess what? The end result was the saddest scene I have ever created. The lady who ran the print shop cried when she saw the print come off the machine.
