I was wondering how you would go about creating these images on this website. They are not just negative of the image as you will notice they are done in a way that creates a 3D effect. The background is darker and the objects are lighter as well as there being a gradient added. Any tips on how to create this would be awesome.

Here is the website where the images are posted. gantryco.com

Thanks
Mike

Maybe it's just me but, I really don't see anything special. It's a photo of a 3d laser carving taken at an angle to show the variation in depths.

this is what you are looking for "displacement Maps"

Filter>Distort>Displace

it will allow you to create some kind of 3d carving effects like shallows, deeps, etc

whit some practice using the displacement maps you will be able to create not just carving also effects like wrapping many objects whit textures like stone, wood, foliage and so on.

this links will get you started

Good Luck

I guess Gmhall222 needs to be more specific.

I focused in on the top image.
It was animated, I assume a Gif.

If that's what he's talking about it's just 2 images.
Fading and shrinking the first while bringing up the 2nd.

The top image is a flash image, but I suppose you could make into a gif image. Steve is right, you need to be more specific as to what you want.
