What kind of border is this?

Would you be able to tell me any borders or brushes similar to this: or here: I want a border in this 'medieval' style, but most that I find are excessive, these are quite subtle.

you might try Google -> gothic style border. You can make your own combination of various.

Sometimes you might even google paintings, baroque or medieval or gothic like foto said above, but you will have a hard time getting rid of the rest of the frame. There are some brushes which will do this and you can create embossing, shadows, etc. Play around with these if you find them till you get a result you like. Do that in its own doc. I suggest deviantarts.com as a first place to look.

PSE has a bunch of pre done borders in it somewhere. I don't use them, but I have seen them

Just to elaborate on what Clare stated, you can take just about any border and give it a 3D look using layer styles.
