What is this layer mark indicates ?

What is this layer mark indicates ? Any idea? Its Photoshop cs6 is it sorta indicating any masking etc.. Am also attaching the psd of it. Any hel will be highly appreciated am a newbie to Photoshop.

That means the layer is visible. Try clicking on it and the eye should dim and the layer (whatever is on the layer) will disappear. Click on it again and the eye will become bright again and the layers contents will become visible again.
 
I think he is talking about the arrow.

The arrow means that the layer is projected on the layer below.
this means, that the layer below becomes like a cut out for the layer above.
This means that only the parts where the two layers overlap, the top layer will be visible.
 
By associating that layer to the one below it, (place your cursor between the two and hold down the alt key in windows) you can control how layer adjustments are applied. In that state, if you apply an adjustment to the top layer it only effects the one you have associated and not the others below it. It is very handy in that respect.
 
Thank you, the correct term escaped me at the time of the post.
In PS terminology, a CLIPPING GROUP is what it's called.

In addition to chrisix' and ALB's explanations, the group can consist of several layers.
