Hi Peaches. Nice poster and a really great backdrop photo you took. I think it might need some readjustment here and there, so I made a jpeg for you to examine.

Lots of stuf going on. Too much I think. But some of that can be fixed by making smaller text and rearranging a bit.

White space around the edges is really important, as is spacing between words for artistry and balance. You went a little mad with the layer effects. If you turn some off here and there you'll see they make no difference. And I wouldn't flatten the little images you added, like the paw prints and the dog. You can't move them around if you merge them with the BG.

Basically, I changed some text size, altered their positions a little, moved the middle paw down to fit the repositioning, and made some minor changes to layer fx on a couple of the names.

WOW It looks GREAT!!!!! White space around the edge? do you mean the whole picture? I found out that the program auto sizes the image to fit where has to go so I dont have to have the names so big. The next one I hope is better yet!! THANK YOU ibclare.

White space around the edge?
In the context of design, white space or negative space is referred to the space between different design elements such as the area between text, columns, paragraphs, graphics and images are referred to as white space. White space is not necessarily “white”, it is an element of the overall design which enables the objects within it to exist in a balance of positive and negative space.

I think the image looks ghastly. The pic is what exactly? A wolf who is heaps out of scale standing on a cliff next to green leafy trees. Is the wolf admiring his/her irrigation of the trees below? Then you have the names plastered across in a horrid font.

While I don't like this design you and your friends like STFU may like it, and you guys are the ones that matter most in this regard. Good on you for trying and making something in PS.

Besmirched, I agree with you about the fonts and I think the layer effects are totally overdone, even in my toned down version. But this is the second time we have seen a rendition of this and it seems the font is desired by the OP and gaming group, fur-like flourishes lol. Still, I have learned from freelance work that sometimes a concept needs to be altered to make it better.

The names are of the dogs in the group and apparently they are wolf-like, hybrids maybe, so that explains the wolf critter. But the paws and the wolf have been flattened to the background and not saved as separate layers. I would change the wolf position and size and make the small paws more visible but that choice wasn't readily available so I didn't.

It's up to Peaches to decide what she likes, even if it isn't what we would think makes a better and more powerful design. I hope she will consider our critiques as she did ask for them. We'll see what she comes up with. I could have demo'd a different idea, and maybe I will. If she asks for the suggestion, I'll give it a try for her.

Thanks Sam for explaining the concept of white space.

Ahhhh, that it! I do have that I think the gradient applied was throwing me off..... Who am I kidding I can never remember the name of fonts, I have too many:mrgreen:

Thank You IamSam, I will have to do more study to fully understand what you mean. Please no offense meant, you explained what "White Space" means just fine. It is the TBI I have that is making it hard for me to understand.

Thank You!
