What did I do?

I have a minor disability and sometimes I hit key strokes that I don't mean to. Somehow I bumped a key and turned the background (the area surrounding my projects) black in PS. Can anyone tell me how to revert back to the default grey?

OK,

On a Mac:
SHIFT + FN (key) + F1 or F2

On a PC:
SHIFT + F1 or F2

Or on both, a Mac and a PC:

Go to PREFERENCES > INTERFACE

or

Only when you have a document open, right click in the workspace area.

Just want to revive this thread to say I discovered my previous original errant keystroke this morning: Spacebar + F
It seems to toggle through a few background colors.
