Hi,

I've just bought CS5 (Photoshop and Flash), and I do know the basics. But I want to master the whole thing, so I want to purchase a book for each of the programs as well to teach me everything. I've seen some book called the CS5 Bible (It's available for both Flash and Photoshop), is this a book you'd recommend? Any other suggestions for a n00b?

Hi Zubimar. The Bible? That is a highly recommended MUST-have book.

I can also recommend Adobe's Classroom In A Book, most especially if you intend to take Adobe's Certification Exams. I came across this recently - Photoshop CS5 Studio Techniques by Ben Willmore and Dan Ablan - I find it good for intermediate learners. Do a search for these books on the net for more info and prices.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

Oh Ya.... before I forget.

In the FORUM HOME, down at the end, you'll see the GARY BOUTON FORUM.... Gary Bouton is a New York artist and used to be a guest Trainer here in the ol' days of the forum. I OWE just about every basic thing about Photoshop since PS2 to him.

Here's his site where you'll find his "Photoshop CS 4 QuickSteps" in his store as well as a free download sample chapter for you to assess the book as well as other goodies...... http://theboutons.com

Enjoy.

Thanks a lot, dv8_fx. I'll go buy the bible first thing on monday, and do some more research on the books you mentioned! Cheers for helping out!

Edit: Just had a quick look at the CS4 Quickstep - It looked really good, will do some more research on that for sure.

David: It might be silly, but I prefer learning from a book. It feels more complete, and when you are not exactly sure what to look for, finding specific tutorials (and in some cases good ones) is hard.

You're welcome , zubimar.

Apa Khabar, davidphotoshop. Your advice is also sound and much appreciated by everyone. And I advice everyone of it, too. One must search for the knowledge one seeks.

Apart from specific user needed tasks, there are a certain things that you won't find in tutorials anywhere. Classroom In a Book - for instance. Some of the topics, if not all, are included in the Adobe exams and specific only to Adobe's standards. Apart from the basics, there's more complex terminologies, or the rational why one has to this rather than that... etc. These are discussed in books.

And like me, I sometimes prefer referring to a book at hand rather than spend time on the internet in search of...... Most especially if I'm at the workplace.

Your OK, david.. Orang ada skill... Syok, man. Keep up the good work, everyone.

Oops... it was CorelD x5... sorry 'bout that... But I'm sure he's coming up with CS5. I'd better ask around in the forums.
