Pretty cool surrealism hershy. The first thing I notice is your character needs to be grounded. No shadow under his feet. I think it is really hard to see him too. I'd make him larger. It's hard to think of him as the subject and he gets lost in his surroundings. I'm not crazy about the centering of so many objects: the light, the rays, the sign, the road, the guy. But that's just my reaction. Overall, nice blending of all the components.

good luck on the schoolwork!

Yeah somethings weird there. I try to move the show under his feet and the shadow just disappears. I'm sure there is reason, just got to find it. I can move stuff around, the guy I wanted to appear more towards the center of the road so making him bigger would to me make him look like a giant. While giants are cool, just not what I was going after.....maybe I'll play around with some colors or someting.

Hey Hersh, other than my usual critique of it being too dark, shadows are a bit off, and hardly any water surface lighting on your ground plane, this is my favorite one you've done to date!

Making a few adjustments to the photo now.....taking a break from the school work. Which is a $25k torture to myself lol. I know I'll fix some stuff, but not everything.

Ok so I made a few Changes. I lightened up the image over all so it's not so dark. Fixed the guy's shadow, did away with the flare. Added a little bit of color. Just realized the shadows are all different opacities, oh well.

Well, I hope so ... and not. It's your vision and our personally skewed vision. Of course, we hope we see clearly enough to steer your eyes to objective critique as well.

BTW, I didn't mean make him a giant, lol. Anyway, I can see why keeping him small works metaphorically in relation to his surroundings. It just makes the welcome home sign seem a bit ominously large.

More IMHOs. The shadows. The car was fine I thought. Maybe need a bit more shadow on the side away from the light. You took all the light away from the stone wall entrance. Certainly there is more reflective light on it, especially if the town has that much light. Please don't take it to mean I think the buildings have too much. They're fine. You brightened the hills connecting the bridge so that now they are the first thing my eyes see, yet they are lighter than the bridge and they face mostly away from the light with some reflectance of the water. The shadow under the guy is good now; I'm glad you figured out the problem. One more shadow. That from the sign confuses me. It is too far away to cast its shadow so far, especially without having the bridge shadow included. Also, have you considered a displacement map for it. Another way, with such simple scattering on the water is just to use a layer mask or eraser and create a slight ripple effect that way.

I'm done. Again, it's your personal vision, but my advice is not to take it too far from the reality of physics unless the whole image is one of total physical illusion. (if that makes any sense -- still early in the day for me so I'm not very coherent yet)

As they say, "Praise god and pass the potatoes please." Then one day you can mash them yourself and makes lots of money for doing so. Oh yeah, and enjoy the cooking too! Meantime keep on cooking up Photoshop dishes. (corny )
