I know I'll fix some stuff, but not everything.
Well, I hope so ... and not. It's your vision and our personally skewed vision. Of course, we hope we see clearly enough to steer your eyes to objective critique as well.
BTW, I didn't mean make him a giant, lol. Anyway, I can see why keeping him small works metaphorically in relation to his surroundings. It just makes the welcome home sign seem a bit ominously large.
More IMHOs. The shadows. The car was fine I thought. Maybe need a bit more shadow on the side away from the light. You took all the light away from the stone wall entrance. Certainly there is more reflective light on it, especially if the town has that much light. Please don't take it to mean I think the buildings have too much. They're fine. You brightened the hills connecting the bridge so that now they are the first thing my eyes see, yet they are lighter than the bridge and they face mostly away from the light with some reflectance of the water. The shadow under the guy is good now; I'm glad you figured out the problem. One more shadow. That from the sign confuses me. It is too far away to cast its shadow so far, especially without having the bridge shadow included. Also, have you considered a displacement map for it. Another way, with such simple scattering on the water is just to use a layer mask or eraser and create a slight ripple effect that way.
I'm done. Again, it's your personal vision, but my advice is not to take it too far from the reality of physics unless the whole image is one of total physical illusion. (if that makes any sense -- still early in the day for me so I'm not very coherent yet)
a $25k torture to myself lol. I know I'll fix some stuff, but not everything.
As they say, "Praise god and pass the potatoes please." Then one day you can mash them yourself and makes lots of money for doing so. Oh yeah, and enjoy the cooking too! Meantime keep on cooking up Photoshop dishes. (corny
